I find it hard to practice new songs. My music reading ability is shady and between the rhythms and the melodies, picking out the notes on a keyboard to sing along is not effortless. It helps me to sing along with the score. I ping my fellow basses thinking it might be useful for more than me.
I have imported a few of pieces into the Musescore1 format and then recorded mp4's using OBS Studio2. Now that I have figured out how to do this let me know if you want me to work on another section or part or piece. I am happy to do it. -Tim

1: Musescore.org
- Musescore is an open source program that runs on PC's and Macs and does many of the things programs like Finale do for free. Once a score is in its format, it gives you a way to loop over a section, show just your part, change the volume of the parts add a click track and lots of other stuff.
- I would recommend using the above program instead of the mp4's that are on this site. You can download the musescore files from here and then play them using the PC/MAC program.
- When I am starting with a new piece I sing along with the bass part and mute all the others. I know I have progressed if I can mute the bass part and keep on my part singing with sopranos, altos and tenors.
- The ABV pieces were scanned from the pdf's into .mscz format and then I (mostly) hand corrected and manually entered the lyrics. (It would be great if the finale pro files that produce ABV's pdfs were exported in MusicXML format, much easier)
2 OBS Studio
- is an open source app that allows you to create screencasts, podcasts and videos from what is playing on your screen (or other video and audio sources)
