|Here I played around with moving the door and putting the refrigerator on the back wall. Now the groceries go on the counter between the refrigerator and the window and the stuff you use alot can go in the cabinets to the right of the refrigerator. There is a pantry tucked in on the other side for storing the rest of the food. Sink/dw/sish storage would be the same. There is a counter to put the groceries on as you walk in the door followed by the refrigerator and wall oven. Sink is under the window and the DW is to the right of the sink. The stove is in an island that has a seating area behind it up 6-8"from the counter service, wrapping around to the right.

critique

To me the main problem is where the seating area turns right. It seems narrow and not very social. Also, I the seating area raised above counter level seems like a barrier rather than an extension of the kitchen.

The seating area is changed in two ways. First, it is not as wide as the kitchen so you have the sense of the kitchen being wider, or expanding out from the cozy seating area space. Second, the seating are is at the same level as the counter. The counter feels bigger and more useful without the change in height. There will be a lot of movement between the dishwasher, dish cabinets and the eating area. It seems that it would be easier to slide stuff across the counter back and forth to the dining room. and joins the seating area more closely to the action in the kitchen. (Stools for that height are readily available.) The more cozy area gives you an extra closet accessible from the bath.
